We are pleased to announce that Dr. George Zalachoris has joined the Elxis Group team. Dr. George Zalachoris is a Civil Engineer with specialization in Geotechnical and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering.
Dr. Zalachoris’ fields of expertise include seismic site response analysis, soil dynamics, engineering seismology, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA), seismic slope stability, static and dynamic soil-structure interaction, engineering geology and rock mechanics. Throughout the past 12 years, he has conducted extensive academic research on Potentially Induced Earthquakes in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, on the evaluation of seismic site response analysis techniques using the NIED KiK-net database in Japan, and on the in-situ measurements of dynamic properties of Municipal Solid Waste material at Austin Community Landfill. Moreover, he has provided consulting services towards the generation of design spectral accelerations for Nuclear Power Stations in Nebraska and Pennsylvania, as well as for the new OVIS Entertainment and Sports Venue in Inglewood, California.Dr. Zalachoris holds a Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. He has also worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for Integrated Seismicity Research (C.I.S.R.) of the Bureau of Economic Geology (B.E.G.) of the University of Texas at Austin. Following the 3 September 2016 M5.8 potentially induced earthquake in Pawnee, Oklahoma, he performed reconnaissance as a partner of the Geotechnical Extreme Events Reconnaissance (GEER) association. He has also worked as a geotechnical/structural engineering design consultant at OTM S.A. Engineering Consulting Company, one of the most established and experienced engineering design firms in Greece. During his time at OTM S.A., he participated in the design of large infrastructure projects in Greece and the Balkans, specifically the re-design of the Venizelou subway metro station in Thessaloniki, Greece and motorway tunnels in Albania.
